Cable Fault Location
The IRG 400 is an efficient time domain reflectometer for cable fault pre-location that provides fast and precise measurement results.
The choice is yours, as the IRG 400 is available as a portable device in a transport case or as a 19" plug-in unit in the Syscompact 400 and Syscompact 400 portable. This provides maximum flexibility and is the solution for a wide range of applications.
It can be operated using a tablet or laptop. Operation is extremely efficient when used in combination with the tried-and-tested BAUR Software 4 (laptop) or the new touch-based BAUR BUI-F application (tablet). The new generation of the IRG can be connected to a tablet and laptop via Wi-Fi – thus enabling you to perform galvanically isolated measurements outside of the HV area.

Specifications
The IRG 400 is a time domain reflectometer for cable fault pre-location. With three measurement inputs, the IRG 400 enables 3-phase measurement on de-energised lines. It also has an integrated CAT IV/600 V filter and can therefore be used on live cables up to 400 V – with appropriately certified test leads. When combined with a surge voltage generator, it is also possible to pre-locate high-resistive cable faults.
The SIM/MIM method in particular triggers faults with a single HV pulse, not only delivering precise results fast, but also in a cable-friendly manner.
TDR
Time domain reflectometry for locating low-resistive faults and cable breaks, and for determining the cable length.
SIM / MIM
High-resistive faults and breakdown faults are triggered by a single HV pulse and the fault distance is measured very precisely several times via the TDR technology and automaticallyevaluated.
ICM
Impulse current method for locating high-resistive faults and breakdown faults. The fault distance is determined by analysing the impulse current diagrams. Particularly suitable for use on long cables.
Decay (optional)
Voltage-coupled decay method for locating breakdown faults with high voltage. The oscillating voltage reflection waves are evaluated automatically to determine the fault distance.
The IRG 400 portable – the transport case version of the impulse measurement device – is operated via a field-compatible 10" tablet on which the new BAUR BUI-F application is installed. As a 19" plug-in unit in the Syscompact, the IRG 400 can be operated either via the tablet or a 15" laptop that is equipped with the BAUR Software 4.
In both instances, the operating control is connected to the measuring device via a radio connection. This means that you can leave the HV area once the IRG is connected and carry out the measurements in a safe, convenient place. Your work is not only safer, but also more convenient and ergonomic.
While the BAUR Software 4 with its multitude of application options and functions is the trump card, the BAUR BUI-F application is a slimline version that you can use to pre-locate cable faults within no time. If you want to compile reports and use the laptop as a working tool in the office, the BAUR Software 4 is the right choice for you!

The ergonomic design of the user interface and intuitive touch operation make the new BAUR BUI-F application a highly efficient operating control. The high-contrast 1000 cd, high-brightness display makes the IRG easier to operate, especially out in the open.
The new application also scores highly with its practical functions: Length-dependent gain simplifies the evaluation of far-away events, while Step TDR measurement has been developed for close-by events such as illegal branching.
The slimline application is the right choice for those who want to concentrate on the essentials: Fast and precise cable fault pre-location!
